PATNA: The state on Thursday registered two Covid deaths and 479 new cases. The two fresh deaths have taken the state's Covid toll to 12,268.
Among the 479 fresh Covid cases logged in the state on Thursday, Patna alone accounted for 178. The health department organised another mega vaccination camp on Thursday and 7.84 lakh vaccine doses were inoculated till 8pm.
State health department additional chief secretary Pratyaya Amrit held a video conference with the heads of all the medical college and hospitals and the civil surgeons of all districts to review the Covid-19 situation. He instructed them to ramp up testing and also focus on vaccination.
Amrit was told at the meeting that 12 Covid patients were undergoing treatment at AIIMS-Patna, including three who are on ventilator support, eight at IGIMS, seven at PMCH and four at JLNMCH.
State Health Society executive director Sanjay Kumar Singh said two deaths were reported on Thursday and both the deceased were in their 40s and had comorbidities. "In almost all the deaths reported this time, we have seen that the patient was admitted with some comorbidity and was also found Covid-19 positive," said Singh.
On Thursday, maximum 178 cases were logged in Patna, followed by Muzaffarpur (50), Khagaria (28), Bhagalpur (25), Begusarai (24), Saharsa (23) and Gaya (18). With the increase in the cases, the number of active cases in the state went up to 2,596 on Thursday, including 1,352 in Patna, followed by Bhagalpur (219), Banka (102), Khagaria (99) and Muzaffarpur (98).
Meanwhile, 409 more people recovered from the virus in the state in the last 24 hours. Fifty-three Covid patients, on the other hand, were undergoing treatment at different health facilities in the state on Thursday.
