2 more 49ers injured in 1st quarter vs. Cowboys

The 49ers tried to avoid injuries by sitting 28 players in their preseason opener. They still had three players injured in the first quarter. Offensive tackle Shon Coleman was carted off on San Francisco’s first offensive series. Before the end of the quarter, running back Raheem Mostert was taken off to be evaluated for a concussion, and defensive tackle DJ Jones was classified as questionable with a knee injury.

Mostert and Jones are both in line for roster spots, so hopefully for San Francisco neither player misses significant time.

Mostert looked good as a runner with a shorthanded backfield against the Cowboys. Jones was a good player along the interior last year and saw plenty of action in the preseason opener. He probably isn’t fighting for a starting job, but he should be a key contributor on a deep 49ers defensive line.
