BHOPAL: Five accused including two minors riding on two bikes allegedly waylaid two youths in Govindpura locality past midnight on Thursday and stabbed one of them. The victim sustained severe injuries in his abdomen and was rushed to Hamidia hospital where he is undergoing treatment in critical condition. Govindpura police have arrested the accused on charges of attempt to murder.
Investigating officer ASI Vasudev Savita said, complainant Sachin Ahire, 23, a resident of Anna Nagar in Govindpura, works at a liquor shop ahata near ISBT. He told police that on Thursday around 1am, he along with his colleague Vishal Mahajan, 23, was returning home on his bike after closing the ahata. When they reached near Govindpura turning, they stopped to relieve themselves.
At the same time, five accused riding on two bikes reached the spot. The accused identified as Gaurav Patil, 20, Shubham Javde, 21, both residents of B-Sector Anna Nagar, Abhishek Thakur, a resident of Ekta Nagar and two minor boys - aged around 17 years - started hurling abuses on Vishal. When Sachin tried to intervene, the accused pushed him away and stabbed him in the abdomen. Vishal sustained severe injuries and collapsed while the accused fled away.
ASI said that the incident was a fallout of a petty dispute, which took place between victim Vishal and prime accused Gaurav, two days back.
