BRIEF: 2 men wounded in West Side shootings

May 13--Two men were wounded in separate shootings on the West Side Tuesday evening, police said.

Most recently, a 31-year-old man walked into Mount Sinai Hospital after being shot around 7:20 p.m. in the East Garfield Park neighborhood, said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines.

The man was standing outside in the 3600 block of West Ohio Street when an unknown attacker in a small gray car fired shots and fled, Gaines said.

The man had multiple gunshot wounds to the body, and his condition was not immediately available.

Earlier, a 21-year-old man was shot in the leg in the Lawndale neighborhood Tuesday, according to Chicago police.

He was wounded in a possible drive-by about 5 p.m. in the 4100 block of West 21st Place.

Police said the man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition.

Also, around 9:05 p.m., a 16-year-old boy appeared to have accidentally shot himself in the leg in the South Chicago neighborhood, Gaines said.

The boy was in the 8800 block of South Saginaw Avenue when a gun he had went off. Witnesses told police the boy shot himself, Gaines said.

He was taken to an area hospital, and his condition was not immediately known.
