Dec. 25--Two men robbed a West Chatham bank at gunpoint Thursday afternoon, authorities said.
The men robbed a TCF Bank branch, 223 W. 87th St., about 12:35 p.m., law enforcement officials said.
The two entered the bank, a showed gun and demanded cash, said Officer Nicole Trainor, a Chicago police spokeswoman. They then fled with the money, she said.
The Chicago office of the FBI characterized the bank robbery as a "takeover"-style robbery in which bank employees were held against their will, according to BanditTrackerChicago.com.
The robbers were described as black men in their late teens to early 20s, standing 5-foot-8 to 6-foot-2, according to the FBI. Surveillance photographs show they were both covering their faces during the robbery, with at least one of them wearing a black ski mask.
Both were wearing dark hooded jackets, with one wearing blue pants and the other wearing light-colored pants. The jacket worn by the one with blue pants was Nike brand, with lighter blue stripes angled up from the center of the chest to the arms.
A reward is being offered for information that leads to the capture of the men, although an amount has not yet been specified. Anyone with information is asked to call the Chicago office of the FBI at 312-421-6700.
