Feb. 19--Authorities charged two men and a 17-year-old boy in connection with a shooting that seriously wounded a 31-year-old man early Wednesday in the Heart of Chicago neighborhood.
Ignacio Cruz, 28, was charged with felony counts of aggravated battery, aggravated use of unlawful weapon and aggravated fleeing. He was also cited for seven misdemeanor traffic violations, according to a news release from the Chicago Police Department.
Jake Russell, 23, and a 17-year-old boy, whose name hasn't been released because he is a juvenile, were each charged with a felony count of aggravated battery and a felony count of aggravated use of unlawful weapon, the release said.
The three were arrested after a 31-year-old man was shot multiple times in the 2100 block of South Leavitt Street around 12:35 a.m. Wednesday, the release said.
The 31-year-old man was parking his car when another vehicle pulled up and someone inside fired shots, police said. He was hit in the chest and was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition, police said.
Shortly after the shooting, the attackers crashed their vehicle and, after a brief chase on foot, they were placed into custody by 12th District police officers.
Cruz, of the 1800 block of West 21st Place, and Russell, of the 7800 block of South Central Avenue in Burbank, as well as the 17-year-old are scheduled to appear in Cook County bond court Friday.
