2 LAPD officers injured in rollover crash in San Fernando Valley

April 17--Two Los Angeles police officers and another man were injured early Sunday in a traffic collision in the San Fernando Valley that also damaged four parked cars, authorities said.

The collision was reported about 2:30 a.m. on Sepulveda Boulevard near Plummer Street in North Hills, according to LAPD Officer J. Rice of the Valley Traffic Division.

Police believe a driver struck an LAPD sport utility vehicle and the parked cars, and at some point the man's car flipped on its side. Police did not provide a precise timeline of the crash.

Video footage showed the driver's overturned vehicle and a parked pickup truck that appeared to have been smashed into an adjacent white sedan. Both airbags were visibly deployed in the police SUV, which showed significant front-end damage.

The driver, who may have been under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the crash, was taken to a hospital with unknown injuries, Rice said.

The two officers suffered minor injuries, including cuts and bruises, and were taken to the hospital for treatment, Rice said.

The crash is under investigation by the LAPD's Valley Traffic Division.
