Two people were killed in a four-car pileup Tuesday in northwest suburban Elgin.

One vehicle was headed south on State Street about 9:15 p.m. when it tried to turn left onto Judson Drive, causing a crash involving three northbound vehicles, Elgin police said.

Two passengers in the first vehicle, 22-year-old Nathanael Madison and Dallas Merritt Colburn, III, were pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Kane County coroner’s office.

Madison lived in Pennsylvania, and Colburn lived in Plano, Illinois, the coroner’s office said.

Four more people were injured in the crash, but their injuries were not considered life-threatening, police said.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
