HOWRAH: A 72-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman died by suicide on Monday in two separate incidents in Howrah's Shibpur police station area.
According to sources, Dilip Kumar Bangal (72) hung himself from a ceiling fan of his two-storey house on Navin Mukherjee Lane on Monday morning. The elderly man lived alone in his flat.
Police came to know from the suicide note that he killed himself because he couldn't bear his loneliness. In another incident, officers of Shibpur PS on Monday recovered the body of Ganga Mandal (40) who also hung herself from a ceiling fan at her home in Tarapad Chatterjee Lane. She was undergoing treatment for depression.
