Even ran into your lookalike or heard people saying they saw you somewhere you never went? Well, what if your doppelganger had the same name and even the job!? No, this is not the plot of a film.
Two Minor League Baseball pitchers with the same full name and uncanny similar looks decided to take a DNA test to find out if they were actually related in some way.
The men – Brady Feigl, 32, and Brady Feigl, 27, had often been confused for each other. Both of them are 6 feet and 4 inches tall, have fiery red hair and even wear similar-styled glasses. As if that was not enough, the pair even had the same surgery in 2015, that too performed by the same doctor. The younger Feigl subsequently found out that he had a serious lookalike.
Feigl, 32, is a player for the Long Island Ducks, and Feigl, 27, plays for the Las Vegas Aviators.
What did the DNA test reveal?
The DNA test showed no biological connection, so the men with so many similarities were not separated at birth and are not related to each other. However, after all the similarities, the Feigls feel bonded to each other. “We’re still brothers in a way,” the older Feigl said, according to The Sun.
Research has found that there exist several doppelgängers who are not related, but may share genetic similarities.
An August 2022 study of 32 pairs by Cell Reports asked the doubles to do a DNA test and fill out a questionnaire about their lives, reported CNN. The scientists also put the doppelgängers’ images through three different facial recognition programs.
“Genomics clusters them together, and the rest sets them apart,” said senior author Manel Esteller of the Josep Carreras Leukemia Research Institute in Barcelona, Spain, in a statement.
