Two men were wounded in a shooting Thursday afternoon in Woodlawn on the South Side, just a block from where a person was fatally shot hours earlier.
About 3:50, the men were in a vehicle parked in the alley behind the 6300 block of South Maryland Avenue, Chicago police said.
A man in his 20s suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition, according to police and CFD spokesman Larry Merritt.
Another man, 30, was struck in the left arm, police said. He was taken to the same hospital in good condition.
University of Chicago police also responded to the incident but the men were not affiliated with the University, according to UCPD spokesman Robert Mason.
Earlier Thursday, a 31-year-old man was fatally shot about a block away in the 6300 block of South Cottage Grove avenue. He was inside of a business about 12:45 p.m. when someone walked in and shot the man multiple times, Chicago police said.
He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. His name hasn’t been released.
