PUNE: The Dehu Road police on Monday arrested two men on the charge of selling duplicate parts of a water purifying machine by using a manufacturing company’s logo.
The police recovered 18 such duplicate kits and other material collectively worth Rs1.42 lakh from them. An official of a brand protection agency, which was given authority by the company, has filed a complaint.
Assistant inspector Prasad Gajjewar told TOI that the police on Monday raided two shops at Mukai Chowk on Dehu Road and at Dange Chowk in Pimpri Chinchwad. “We have recovered 18 duplicate kits that were used in the purifiers. These kits were packed in the boxes of the company along with the logo. The price of the original kit is Rs3,500. The suspects were purchasing these duplicate kits for Rs2,000 and used to sell it as original for Rs3,500,” said Gajjewar.
