Two people were found shot dead in a murder-suicide Monday in Woodlawn on the South Side, according to an autopsy.

Dominique Johnson, 20, and Shanal Guy, 18, were found with gunshot wounds to their heads around 5:40 p.m. in the 6300 block of South Kimbark Avenue, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

Both were pronounced dead at the scene, police said. A weapon was recovered.

An autopsy released Tuesday found Johnson died of a gunshot wound to his head and Guy died of a gunshot wound to her face, the medical examiner’s office said. Johnson’s death was ruled a suicide and Guy’s death was ruled a homicide.

Woodlawn has seen nine homicides so far this year, up from two homicides during the same period in 2020, according to Sun-Times records.
