NEW DELHI: Delhi Police has busted two drug trafficking networks with the recovery of 3.5 kg of heroin valued over Rs 21 crore in the international market. Three people, including a Nigerian national, were arrested during the raids conducted in Keshav Nagar and Dabri areas in two separate operations, police said.
On May 25, the accused, Ankush (22), was held near main Keshav Nagar. He is a resident of Timarpur and was apprehended with 505 grams of “fine quality” heroin.
"He procured the drugs from a person in Sultanpuri and sold the same in the locality. Further, raids are being conducted to trace the source," police said.
Deputy commissioner of police (crime branch, narcotics) KPS Malhotra said Ankush has criminal antecedents. His father has been involved in the sale of illicit liquor. His mother was also previously involved in drug trafficking, he said.
In the operation, on May 27, Anthony, a Nigerian national and his associate Sanjay were arrested near the powerhouse in the Dabri Mahavir Enclave, with three kg heroin. "Anthony is the mastermind of this syndicate. He used to procure contraband from his associates, who hail from African countries," the officer said. Anthony lives in the Vijay Enclave area and Sanjay in Uttam Nagar. TNN
