'2 Dope Queens' returning to HBO with four new specials

Comedians Jessica Williams and Phoebe Robinson are returning to HBO for another dose of "2 Dope Queens."

HBO has ordered four new hourlong specials from the duo that will premiere next year, the premium cable network said in a statement Monday.

The critically acclaimed specials debuted in February to much fanfare as Williams and Robinson hosted Jon Stewart, Uzo Aduba, Tituss Burgess and Sarah Jessica Parker. Comedian Tig Notaro directed the specials, which were produced by A24.

The hangout-style series is based on the women's popular, eponymous WNYC-sponsored podcast _ a weekly standup and storytelling show that touches on sex, romance, race, hair and life in New York. The women also serve as executive producers.

Williams, an alum of "The Daily Show" and star of "The Incredible Jessica James," will next appear in in Warner Bros.' next Wizarding World installment, "Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald" this fall, in which she'll play Professor Eulalie "Lally" Hicks.

She recently wrapped production on Olivia Wilde's "Booksmart" opposite Jason Sudeikis and Lisa Kudrow, and Patrick Brice's "Corporate Animals" opposite Demi Moore and Ed Helms.

Robinson, author of the New York Times bestseller "You Can't Touch My Hair and Other Things I Still Have to Explain," was a staff writer for the final season of "Portlandia" and appeared on "Search Party" and "Broad City." She made her film debut this summer with a role in the Netflix comedy "Ibiza" and will appear in the film "What Men Want."

She'll publish her next book, "Everything's Trash, But It's Okay," in October.
