2 dead after car loses control on curve in Joliet

File photo

Two people died and another person was seriously injured after their car crashed into a tree and a traffic signal early Monday in Joliet.

The driver failed to negotiate a curve on Jefferson Street approaching Raynor Avenue about 2:45 a.m., Joliet police said in a statement.

The car left the road and struck a tree and traffic signal, “causing the vehicle to break apart,” police said.

One occupant was ejected from the car, police said. He and another person in the car died at the scene. Their names haven’t been released.

A third person was extricated from the car and taken to St Joseph Medical Center with serious injuries, police said.
