July 10--Two people died and at least nine were wounded from Thursday afternoon through Friday morning, police said.
A teen boy was fatally shot about 10:05 p.m. Thursday in the Woodlawn neighborhood on the South Side, said Officer Amina Greer, a spokeswoman for the Chicago Police Department.
The victim, whom family members identified as 17-year-old Kimythe Hubbard, was walking in the 6600 block of South Blackstone Avenue when someone walked up and fired shots, Greer said. Hubbard died at the scene. Nobody was in custody as of early Friday.
About 8:45 p.m., a 22-year-old man was walking in the 5200 block of South Emerald Avenue in the Back of the Yards neighborhood when someone approached from a gangway and fired, striking him in the upper body, Greer said. The attacker fled in a vehicle; the man was taken in critical condition to Stroger Hospital of Cook County, where he later died. He was identified as Jovan Dovantae Hopkins of East Chicago, Ind., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

--About 4:45 a.m. Friday, a 23-year-old man walked into Presence Sts. Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center with a graze wound and said he was shot in the 1500 block of North Damen Avenue, said Officer Jose Estrada, a spokesman for the Chicago Police Department. He was inebriated and uncooperative with police, Estrada said.
Police said the man gave conflicting statements about the incident and there were no calls of shots fired in the area where he said he was wounded.
--A 17-year-old girl was shot in the chest at 2:15 a.m. in the 6400 block of South Artesian Avenue in the Marquette Park neighborhood, police said.
She was taken for treatment to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition, police said. About 21 shell casings were scattered on a sidewalk along Artesian Avenue, according to police.
--At 1:10 a.m., a 26-year-old man was in the 5100 block of West Madison Street in South Austin on the West Side when he was shot, Greer said. He suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the arm, and a friend transported him to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park, where his condition was stabilized.
--About 12:15 a.m., two people were shot in the 10200 block of South State Street in the Fernwood neighborhood on the Far South Side. Someone exited a white vehicle, fired, then fled the scene in the same vehicle, Greer said.
A 33-year-old man was shot in the foot and taken to Roseland Community Hospital, where his condition was stabilized. A woman, whose age wasn't immediately available, was grazed in the leg and refused medical attention. Nobody was in custody, Greer said.
--Around 9:28 p.m., a 25-year-old man was wounded in a shooting in the Golden Gate neighborhood on the Far South Side, police said.
The man was sitting outside in the 600 block of East 133rd Street when he heard gunshots and realized he was struck, police said.
He was hit in the right leg, right hand and right groin area. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center where his condition stabilized, police said.
--A 62-year-old man was shot in the first block of East 100th Place on the Far South Side, said Officer Thomas Sweeney, a Chicago police spokesman. The incident occurred at about 8 p.m., police said.
The man was shot in the leg and was taken to Roseland Community Hospital in good condition, Sweeney said.
--Earlier, at 7:07 p.m. Thursday in the East Garfield Park neighborhood, a 32-year-old man was critically wounded in a shooting, Sweeney said.
The man was in the 200 block of North Homan Avenue when he was shot in the back, Sweeney said. The man, who is a known gang member, managed to get to Stroger Hospital where he was in critical condition, Sweeney said.
--Earlier on the Northwest Side in the Portage Park neighborhood a 19-year-old man was shot at 3:43 p.m., Sweeney said.
The man was shot in the ankle during a robbery attempt and was taken to Our Lady of Resurrection Hospital in good condition.
