Minor among three dead, 19 injured in two separate incidents in J&K's Reasi, LG Manoj Sinha expresses grief

JAMMU: Three people were killed and 19 others injured in two separate incidents in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, officials said.

J&K Lt Governor Manoj Sinha has expressed grief over the accident and directed the district administration to ensure best possible treatment to the injured.

"Two person were killed and 19 others got injured when a passenger vehicle (Canter- JK11A-0215) carrying pilgrims to Cave Shrine of Shiv Khori skidded off the road and plunged into a gorge in Reasi district of Jammu region of Union Territory (UT)," officials said.

They said, "The accident took place at Taryath in the Ransu area around 12.30 pm when the driver of the vehicle lost control while negotiating a sharo curve and the vehicle rolled down into a 50-feet-deep gorge."

"The ill-fated vehicle carrying devotees from Jamola, Bindi, Argi and Dalhori of Rajouri district was on the way to the famous Cave Shrine of Shiv Khori dedicated to Lord Shiva from Rajouri on the occasion of Maha Shivratri festival," officials said.

"A rescue operation was launched immediately and the injured were rushed to a nearby health centre, where two of them were declared brought dead, they said, adding that of the 19 injured, a total of 12 injured have been referred to Government Medical College & Hospital (GMC&H) Jammu for specialised treatment.

The deceased have been identified as Arpan Singh (14) son of Ranbir Singh and Pankaj Kumar (29) who were declared as brought dead, they said.

Meanwhile Lt Governor Manoj Sinha has expressed grief over the accident and directed the district administration to ensure best possible treatment to the injured.

"My deepest condolences to the families of the deceased. Praying for the early recovery of the injured. Directed the district administration to ensure best possible treatment to the injured," it further tweeted.

In a separate incident, one person identified as Sahil Singh (25) was killed and another Rohit Singh (24) was injured when their car fell into a deep gorge at Godar Morh area of Bhambla in Pouni tehsil of Reasi district on Saturday.
