2 contacts of jail inmate held in Ludhiana with 975gm heroin

LUDHIANA: The special task force (STF), Ludhiana, has arrested two men with 975gm of heroin from near Jalandhar bypass. The accused were identified as Aman Mahajan and Dharamvir.

Inspector Harbans Singh, incharge, STF, Ludhiana, said on Wednesday, they got information about one Raman Kumar, currently lodged in the central jail, had several accomplices who supplied heroin to buyers. He said Aman and Dharamvir were among his accomplices. They were coming to Jalandhar bypass to supply heroin to their customers.

The police officer said finding the information credible, a case under NDPS act was registered against the accused and they were arrested from Jalandhar bypass. He said while 345gm heroin was recovered from the pocket of one accused, 630gm was recovered from a tiffin carried by other accused.

STF officials said Raman Kumar would be brought on a production warrant and questioned into the matter.
