2 children hit by car in West Elsdon

The 20-year-old driver ran through a red light and stuck the two children with his car, police said.

Two children were injured when they were hit by a car Sunday in West Elsdon on the Southwest Side.

About 8 p.m. a 20-year-old man was driving a Honda Civic southbound on Pulaski Road, Chicago police said. The man ran through a red light in the 5200 block of South Pulaski and struck the two children, an 8-year-old boy and a 10-year-old girl.

They both were rushed to Comer Children’s Hospital, police said. The boy is in critical condition and the girl is in serious condition.

The 20-year-old driver was issued citations for failure to stop at a red light and driving without proof of insurance, police said.
