Dec. 11--A man and 17-year-old boy were ordered held in lieu of $1 million bail in connection with a shooting that left a man wounded this week, police said Thursday.
The shooting happened at 8:20 a.m. Tuesday in the 7100 block of South Cyril Avenue in the South Shore neighborhood, Chicago police said.
Devante Bolden, 21, of the 2200 block of East 79th Street, and his co-defendant Joshua Sharp, 17, of the 100 block of East 71st Street, appeared in bond court Wednesday and were both ordered held in lieu of $1 million bail, said Steve Campbell, a spokesman for the Cook County state's attorney's office.
Bolden was charged with aggravated battery and discharge of a firearm and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, both felonies. He also was charged with misdemeanor counts of trying to flee and elude police, being an uninsured driver and possessing cannabis. He received a citation for not having valid vehicle registration.
Sharp was charged as an adult with a felony count of aggravated battery and discharge of a firearm and a misdemeanor count of cannabis possession.
Police said they spotted a vehicle speeding away from the shooting that matched the description of one involved in the incident.
Officers pulled over the vehicle and apprehended Bolden and Sharp, police said.
The victim suffered gunshot wounds to his legs and was being treated at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where his condition has stabilized, police said.
