Dec. 10--Two people are accused of robbing and beating a man with a baseball bat in Woodridge on Monday night.
Taurion Moore, 24 and Jemica Lee, 22, were arrested following the attack, Woodridge Police spokeswoman Traci Steger said in a news release.
Police were called to the Mobil Gas station at 75th Street and Woodward Avenue around 7 p.m. after a badly injured man arrived at the scene. Officers found the man with severe bruises to his face, consistent with a beating, Steger said. The man told police that two people had beaten him with a baseball bat at the Windsor Lake apartment complex, just north of the gas station. The pair also had stolen his cell phone and cash, Steger said.
Police later arrested Moore and Lee, both of the 7300 block of Woodward Avenue, in connection with the attack. Steger said police had not confirmed the relationship between the two. Both have been charged with aggravated battery and armed robbery, both felonies.
Illinois Department of Corrections records show that Moore is on parole for a 2009 conviction for residential burglary in Will County and a separate drug conviction in Cook County. Records prior to Monday's arrest showed that his sentence was to be discharged in January.
The victim was taken to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital, Steger said.
