A soldier based in Iraq called Park Ridge police Friday morning after he saw two people leaving his garage with power tools via a doorbell camera he checks remotely on his phone, police said.

Andres Gutierrez, 23, and Brandon Shaw, 24, broke into the garage about 2:30 a.m. in the 1800 block of South Fairview Avenue, Park Ridge police said, and were found nearby with the tools when officers responded.

Both men face three counts of burglary, police said.

Gutierrez, of Chicago, and Shaw, of Arcola, were each released on a personal recognizance bond after appearing in court Saturday, according to Cook County court records.

They are due back in court Feb. 25.
