2 charged after officers find 3 rifles in vehicle: police

Two men are facing weapons charges after officers allegedly found rifles and ammunition in a vehicle they were in Friday in Grand Crossing on the South Side.

Jordan Hill, 25, was charged with two felony counts of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, Chicago police said. Dewayne Hill, 32, was wanted on a warrant out of Wisconsin and was charged with one count of unlawful use of a weapon.

Officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert in the 6900 block of South Dorchester Avenue and were given a description of a suspected vehicle, police said.

Dewayne Hill and Jordan Hill were in a vehicle that officers spotted pulling out of an alley, police said. The vehicle matched the description officers were given.

The vehicle collided with a parked car and a tree after it fled from officers who tried to stop it, police said.

Authorities recovered three rifles along with ammunition from the vehicle, police said.

Both men appeared at bond court Saturday at the Leighton Criminal Courts Building, 2600 S. California Ave. Jordan Hill’s bail was set at $10,000 while Dewayne Hill was transferred to authorities in Wisconsin, according to Chicago police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi.
