Nov. 14--A suburban bank was robbed Thursday by a suspect dubbed the "Bully Bandit," and another bank was also robbed on the Northwest Side, according to the FBI.
The so-called Bully Bandit is suspected in the robbery of the Bank of America branch at 3300 S. Harlem Ave. in Riverside, said FBI spokeswoman Joan Hyde.
The robbery happened at 11:15 a.m. The man, who is suspected in 16 bank robberies since 2012, robbed the same Bank of America branch May 2, 2013, according to the FBI.
He is described as Hispanic, in his late 20s to early 30s. He is about 5-foot-8 with a medium build. He has a mustache and had pink paint smudges on his hands and hooded sweatshirt. His bottom teeth have gold caps. The "Bully Bandit" was so nicknamed for screaming threats at employees and customers while demanding money from workers.
About 3:30 p.m. Thursday, two men are suspected of robbing the Plaza Bank, a branch of the North Community Bank, 3555 N. Harlem Ave., according to police and FBI officials.
The FBI said a black man, age 30 to 32, about 6 feet tall and weighing 170 pounds went into the bank and demanded cash. No weapon was displayed.
The man was wearing a green jacket with a Kangol hat, white shoes and reading glasses, Hyde said.
Information about the second suspect was not available. FBI officials said a $17,500 reward is being offered for information on the "Bully Bandit."
