GUWAHATI: Assam Police on Thursday arrested two persons in connection with the murder of an elderly woman in Guwahati’s Kalapahar area. Her body was found on Monday.
The arrested persons are Baharul Islam and Rubina.
Harmeet Singh, commissioner of police, Guwahati, said, “We have almost solved the case and arrested two persons. Rubina is the wife of a prime accused, who is on the run with another prime accused. We have already got clues that they have left the state.”
“The investigation has already revealed that these four persons had together planned the killing for property and money. We are examining the bank accounts of the deceased woman, Anu Hazarika, to ascertain if there is any withdrawal from the account/accounts,” he added.
The commissioner further said one Akshay Kumar, who was close to the deceased, is being questioned in connection with the case.
