Two people were taken into custody Sunday after an hours-long standoff with police in west suburban Aurora.

Officers responded just after 4:45 p.m. for reports of a disturbance with shots fired in the 600 block of South Lake Street, Aurora police said.

A boy was taken into custody nearby, police said. A police patrol supervisor spotted the other male and started chasing him, but he went into a home a block away and refused to come out.

About 7 p.m., a Kane County search warrant was authorized, and the Aurora police Special Response Team and Drone Team came to the scene, police said. Officers made announcements through a loudspeaker, and a woman came out, but the male was believed to still be inside.

A male and another female came out after officers entered the front of the home, police said. The male was taken into custody.

Aurora police are still investigating the circumstances of the initial incident. Anyone with information is asked to call investigators at 630-256-5500 or Crime Stoppers at 630-892-1000.
