2 arrested after firing shots at police in Lawndale

Two people were arrested Sunday after they opened fire towards police officers in Lawndale on the West Side.
Officers in a marked squad car were stopped at a stop sign about 3:24 a.m. in the 1800 block of South Kostner Avenue when someone in a black Nissan sedan fired shots in their direction, Chicago police said.
The vehicle was stopped a block south, and a female and male were taken into custody, police said. A weapon was recovered.
No officers were injured in the incident, police said.
