£2.8m refurbishment to close Scotstoun swimming pool for next nine months

Glasgow Life has announced a major refurbishment of Scotstoun leisure centre - resulting in the pool closing for the next nine months.

The £2.8 million works kick off on March 23, with a renovation of the west end pool including a new modern health suite, more lockers and storage space and a renovated changing area.

The pool will be open to the public on Sunday, March 22 and will then close for around nine months, with an expected reopening date planned for late 2020.

Some areas of the car park will be affected throughout the refurb, although the gym, fitness studios, cafe, sports halls and tennis courts will remain open.

Learn to Swim customers will be offered the chance to withdraw their membership or relocate during the work.

A Glasgow Club statement reads: “We understand this closure will be inconvenient for some of you, however please remember your membership enables you to use any other pool in the city.

“However, we appreciate other venues may not be convenient for everyone.

“If you feel your membership will offer less than great value while improvements are being carried out to your local venue, please contact Customer Services on 0141 287 8931 (Monday to Friday 9am-4.30pm and Fridays 9am-4pm) or email glasgow.club@glasgowlife.org.uk.

“They’ll be happy to freeze your membership payment and you can still use the facilities on a Pay As You Go basis if you wish.

“Thank you very much for your understanding while we work to make things better. We’ll keep you updated here as the refurbishment progresses.”
