2,600 uneaten White House Correspondents’ dinner meals didn’t go to waste

  • Roughly 2,600 meals that went unserved at the White House Correspondents’ dinner were donated to a good cause.
  • Hilton donated the meals to two shelters for abused women and children, according to White House Correspondents' Association President Weijia Jiang said. They freeze dried the steak and lobster for longer shelf life before sending them off to the shelters.
  • “HUGE thank you to the staff that worked through the night under terrible circumstances,” Jiang added.
  • Cole Tomas Allen, a 31-year-old computer engineer from California accused of opening fire at Saturday’s event, appeared in federal court Monday where three charges against him were unveiled.
  • He has been charged with attempting to assassinate President Donald Trump, along with weapons charges.
