1996 Fiat Cinquecento sells for £15,000 thanks to previous owner

The famous car from the Inbetweeners TV show sold today for £15,000.

The yellow 1996 Fiat Cinquecento complete with one red door and rude bumper sticker appeared in the Channel 4 show.

It left the lads red-faced when it broke down near a bus stop - after they shouted at everyone in the queue - and was vandalised on a trip to a theme park after they abused a group of people with disabilities.

The car sold for £15,000 to a private collector in the USA at East Bristol Auctions.

Auctioneer Andrew Stow said the buyer was a ''big fan''.

He said: ''The bidding was fierce and we had interest from all over the world - America, Canada, and even Australia.

''Everyone wanted a piece of it. We were quite overwhelmed by how popular it was.

''It just goes to show the popularity of the programme - this is the Batmobile of British Comedy.''
