Police are appealing for witnesses after a teenager died in the second fatal road accident to take place near Skipton in two days.
The 19-year-old man was a passenger in a VW Polo that collided with a BMW X1 on the A629 at Cononley, on Saturday night.
Firefighters cut the occupants out of both cars.
The 19-year-old man who has not been named was pronounced dead at the scene.
An 18-year-old man who was also a passenger in the Polo suffered "life-changing injuries".
The Polo was travelling from the direction of Skipton towards Cross Hills near Keighley.
On Friday evening two people died in a crash on the A59 at Broughton.
The cars had been travelling in opposite directions.
The 19-year-old male driver of the VW was admitted to Leeds General Infirmary with serious injuries, where he remains critical.
The other passenger in the VW, an 18-year-old man, was taken to Airedale Hospital with life-changing injuries.
The driver of the BMW, a 63-year-old man, and a 63-year-old woman and a girl aged seven, were taken to Airedale Hospital with minor injuries.
The road was closed for eight hours while police examined the scene.
North Yorkshire Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone who may have dashcam footage of the incident.
