Saudi Arabia began on Sunday transferring workers in the Eastern Province to public schools after they were turned into temporary lodging during the coronavirus outbreak.
The General Department of Education in the Eastern Province prepared 19 school to host sanitation workers in order to meet social distancing requirements to fight the virus.
The schools are located in the cities of Dammam, Khobar, Dhahran, Qatif and Jubail.
Department official spokesman Saeed al-Bahes said the administration is fully prepared for further cooperation with various sectors and government agencies, whenever the need arises, for them to use its facilities.
The latest measure is in line with the leadership’s orders to curb the spread of COVID-19, he added.
The General Department of Education in the Eastern Province has put its school buildings, centers and other educational facilities at the disposal of the authorities in line with the preventive measures to combat the virus, he stressed.
Moreover, Bahes said the administration director ordered that scout units could be deployed at food supply centers. He said some 400 volunteers were promoting coronavirus awareness campaigns at the centers.
