A whole slew of Xbox original titles are about to be backwards compatible on the Xbox One in April.
Classics like Jade Empire, Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic 2 and The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind will all be playable on your Xbox One, Xbox One S and Xbox One X this month.
I have a lot of nice things to say about my PlayStation 4, but I really do enjoy giving Microsoft kudos for its commitment to bringing old games to their new system. Remember when Microsoft seemed determined to destroy used games, make a persistent online connection a requirement and all that other junk? Well they’re still trying to do all that though in a much less hamfisted fashion, and now they’re also focused on making all our old games work on our new(er) consoles.
That’s pretty cool. I missed out on a lot of these games back in the day when I couldn’t afford all that many games, let alone an Xbox and a gaming PC (I went with PC and played my friends’ consoles) so I’m happy as a clam to see all these backwards compatible titles, even if I’m not sure I have time to play them.
Here’s all the new original Xbox games joining the backwards compatibility list for the Xbox One in April:
8 Original Xbox Games Coming April 17
- Blinx: The Time Sweeper
- Breakdown
- Conker: Live & Reloaded
- The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind
- Hunter: The Reckoning
- Jade Empire
- Panzer Dragoon Orta
- SSX 3
11 Original Xbox Games Coming April 26
- Destroy All Humans!
- Full Spectrum Warrior
- Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction
- MX Unleashed
- Panzer Elite Action: Fields of Glory (Europe only)
- Star Wars: Battlefront
- Star Wars: Battlefront 2
- Star Wars: Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy
- Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter
- Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords
- Star Wars: Republic Commando
That’s a lot of Star Wars games! If you’re really fed up with EA’s take on Battlefront, you can play both the original two games on Xbox One now (they’re not as pretty, but they’re so much better in other ways.)
I also never got around to playing Mercenaries, and I always wanted to. So that’s neat.
Did you play any of these games back in the day? Will you play them now on your shiny new Xbox One? Let me know on Twitter and Facebook.
