An 18-year-old man has been charged with murder and his 46-year-old mother with concealing a serious offence, following the stabbing death of a man on the New South Wales South Coast three months ago.
Daniel James Sharpe appeared briefly in the Goulburn Local Court today, charged with killing Andrew Drake, 29, at a house in Surfside, near Batemans Bay, in April.
After being arrested at the scene and released, Mr Sharpe was re-arrested in Goulburn yesterday, and charged with murder.
Mr Drake died at a Surfside home in April after being stabbed multiple times in his abdomen, police say.
In court today Mr Sharpe's lawyer Matthew Lloyd did not apply for bail on his client's behalf, but asked that he be granted access to his asthma medication while in custody.
Mr Sharpe is expected to apply for bail at the Batemans Bay Court next week.
He blew a kiss to his maternal aunt and grandfather as he was taken from the court.
In a separate hearing, Mr Sharpe's mother Julie Louise Sharpe was granted bail in the Batemans Bay Court on a charge of concealing a serious offence.
Her bail conditions included not having any contact with her son and reporting to police three times a week.
