18-year-old booked for misbehaving with minor

HYDERABAD: An 18-year-old student has been booked under the POCSO Act for allegedly harassing his 17-year-old relative to marry him.

According to SR Nagar inspector K Saidulu, the victim is an Intermediate first year student and the accused her close relative. “On Wednesday, when the victim was returning home from the college at Ameerpet, the accused stopped her near Mythrivanam and misbehaved with her by holding her hand,” the inspector said.

The victim informed about the incident to her family after reaching home and they lodged a complaint with police. The victim and her family alleged that the accused has been harassing the victim for some time asking her to marry him and he event threatened to kill her if she did not agree for the marriage, police said.

Police were also trying to gather evidence, including CCTV camera footage, against the accused and they were also collecting details about the relationship between the two families.

“He is currently absconding and a manhunt was launched to nab him,” the inspector said.
