18-year-old and 85-year-old found dead in separate Gower incidents on the same night are named

Two people who died in separate incidents off Gower have been named.

Emergency services were called to Limeslade and Port Eynon just a few hours apart on the evening of Monday, April 29, where the bodies of two men were discovered.

Neither incident is thought to be suspicious.

The incidents involved the police, Rhossili coastguard rescue teams, as well as the coastguard helicopter, The Welsh Ambulance Service, including the air ambulance, RNLI teams from Mumbles and Horton, and Oxwich coastguards.

They were first called to Limeslade beach in Mumbles following concerns about the welfare of an elderly male, at around 4.45pm.

The second incident saw police alerted at around 8.45pm on the same evening, following the discovery of a male body at the bottom of cliffs in Port Eynon .

He has been identified as 18-year-old James Roy Smart, from the Swindon area.

An inquest into his death has been opened and adjourned until October.

A spokesman for South Wales Police said there were not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding either death.
