18 things that perfectly sum up a night out in Pontypridd

A night out in Pontypridd, does anything ever really compare?

It may not have the glamorous nightclubs of Marbella or the wider range of bars that our capital city homes, but there are certain things about a visit to the Ponty strip that simply stay with us for life.

There are some things about a night out in the town centre that are just classic Ponty, nostalgic and - in many ways - cherished memories of our youth.

No matter how many years pass by a night out on the tiles in P-town will in some ways never change.

So here's a run down of what you need to know if you head out for a few beverages.

Ponty Wetherspoons is a magical place where a dancefloor appears on a Saturday night

You will likely get the party started here by drinking Woo Woos or a few pints

But, don't drink too many, because you'll need to climb 10,293 stairs to get to the toilets

Fatman Scoop is likely to be played in at least one venue

You will undoubtedly bump into someone you went to school with, and be best friends for 30 minutes

You will also experience a wild period at around 12.15pm when the last train from Cardiff arrives, and people flood to the top end of town

Meanwhile the Maltsters is the place to visit if you like to dabble in karaoke

And The Wonky Bar will give you a taste of proper ale

Alfred's is the place to go for some drinks on the terrace - also known as the patio at Market Square

And you'll probably witness a scuffle outside the pubs if you sit in the window seat long enough

If your shoes don't stick to the floor at some point, you haven't done it right. In fact, if you're experienced, you probably have a pair of "Ponty shoes" that you're willing to sacrifice for the love of the sesh.

It hasn't been a proper night out unless you stumble for a taxi with a Shogun's in your hand

But you're likely to have to wait a few hours to get a taxi home

When you're in the queue you'll probably be handed a tin foil blanket to keep you warm

Or, if you're in the know, you'll walk to the other end of town and flag one down to cheat the never-ending queue

And the following morning you'll wake up with a Soul Suite stamp on your hand trying to remember how it all happened
