HYDERABAD: An 18-month-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by an unknown person while she was playing in the neighborhood at Golconda on Monday night.
Hyderabad police have registered a case under the relevant sections of law.
On Monday night, the toddler went towards the neighbouring house of her maternal uncle to play with other children. A little later, her grandmother found her crying in the lane near their house.
As the girl had some injuries on her private parts, her parents shifted her to a nearby private hospital for treatment. She was further referred to Niloufer Children's Hospital.
"We received information from the hospital authorities regarding the injured girl. Based on the complaint of the girl's grandmother, we have registered a case under relevant sections of law," Golconda inspector K Chandrasekhar Reddy said.
Further investigation is under way.
