Jan. 05--The nominees for the 2016 McDonald's All-American game were announced Tuesday.
The list includes nine boys and nine girls from Illinois, each vying to make the final roster, which will be released on Jan. 17 at 9:30 p.m. on ESPNU.
On the boys' side, the nominees include Bradley-Bourbonnais' Micah Bradford, Simeon's Ben Coupet, St. Rita's Demauris Dixon, T.F. South's Brandon Johnson, Morgan Park's Charlie Moore, Simeon's Zach Norvell, St. Joseph's Nick Rakocevic, De La Salle's George Willborn and St. Rita's Christopher Williams.
For the girls, the nominees are Huntley's Ali Andrews, New Trier's Jeannie Boehm, Benet's Kathleen Doyle, Joliet Catholic's Nicole Ekhomu, Rich South's Dasia Evans, Downers Grove North's Jaida Green, Young's Kiara Lewis, Champaign St. Thomas More's Tori McCoy and Bolingbrook's Brittney Patrick.
Nationally, 755 players were nominated for the games. The full list of nominees can be found here.
"The 755 high school seniors nominated for the McDonald's All American Games are the best representation of high school basketball talent in the country," said Morgan Wootten, Hall-of-Fame coach and McDonald's All American Games Selection Committee Chairman. "From Hawaii to Alaska to Maine, we are thrilled to celebrate their accomplishments. We know it will be a very difficult, but fun task to select the final 24 girls and 24 boys players later this month."
The games are scheduled for March 30 at the United Center.
