18 charged after bikie gang brawls on Gold Coast

Dozens of bikies wearing club colours were allegedly involved in the brawl at Broadbeach.

Eighteen people were charged with offences ranging from assault to stealing after two large brawls involving the Bandidos bikie gang and another outlaw motorcycle club on Queensland's Gold Coast overnight.

Police reportedly used stun guns to disperse about 60 people involved in the first brawl outside a Broadbeach restaurant around 8:30pm (AEST).

According to the Queensland police, a large group of men believed to be members of a bikie gang became involved in an altercation with another man, also thought to be a gang member.

Police arrested four men and took them to the Southport watch-house where, a short time later, a second disturbance occurred involving a group of men believed to be members of a bikie gang.

More arrests were made and three motorcycle gang members were taken to hospital, although they were not badly hurt, police said in a statement.

Four male police officers also sustained injuries in the brawls but did not require medical treatment.

A total of 18 people have been charged with offences including public nuisance, assault, obstructing police, assaulting police, being disorderly on a licensed premises and an unrelated stealing matter.

Police have increased patrols in the area and have promised there will be zero tolerance of violent crimes.
