A 17-year-old suspect has been charged in connection with a shooting incident that resulted in at least seven juveniles being injured in downtown Indianapolis last month. The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office has confirmed that the suspect, identified as King Dennis, faces charges of dangerous possession of a firearm and two counts of criminal recklessness.

Dennis, who has been charged as an adult, was arrested by the Indianapolis Metro Police Department on Friday following the incident. The shooting, which took place near a mall in the downtown area, left seven children aged between 12 and 17 wounded. Fortunately, all the victims were taken to local hospitals and were reported to be in stable condition.

Authorities are still investigating the circumstances that led to the shooting and are working to determine if there were multiple individuals involved in the incident. The police responded to the scene around 11:30 p.m. on March 30 and found a group of juveniles, including the injured victims.

Deputy Chief Tanya Terry of the Indianapolis Police expressed deep concern over the prevalence of gun violence among young people, emphasizing the need to address conflicts without resorting to firearms. The police department has increased its presence in downtown areas to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.

Law enforcement officials are reviewing surveillance footage and interviewing witnesses to identify any additional suspects who may have been involved in the shooting. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to ensure the safety of the community and hold those responsible for the violence accountable.
