17 more people have died in Greater Manchester's hospitals after testing positive for coronavirus

Another 17 people have died in Greater Manchester's hospitals after testing positive for Covid-19.

It means the region's hospital death toll now stands at 4,774.

In the last 24 hours a further five deaths were recorded at Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust and four more people died at Bolton NHS Foundation Trust.

A further three deaths were reported at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust and two people died at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust.

Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust and Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust each recorded one more death.

The total number of coronavirus deaths at hospital trusts in Greater Manchester, as of Saturday, January 23, are:

Bolton NHS Foundation Trust - 528 (+4)

Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust - 9

Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust - 889 (+1)

NHS Nightingale Hospital North West - 6

Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust - 1,324 (+5)

Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust - 7

Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust - 408 (+1)

Stockport NHS Foundation Trust - 413 (+2)

Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust - 493 (+1)

The Christie NHS Foundation Trust - 21

Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust - 676 (+3)

A further 710 people who tested positive for coronavirus have died in hospital in England, bringing the total number of confirmed deaths reported in hospitals to 65,814, NHS England said on Saturday.

Patients were aged between 25 and 101.

All except 33, aged between 28 and 93, had known underlying health conditions.

The deaths were between May 27 and January 22.
