17 Epic Games Store summer sale deals you don’t want to miss

The Epic Games Store summer sale is underway, with discounts on hundreds of the best PC games in nearly every genre. Whether you’re after big-name hits such as Death Stranding, open-world games like Far Cry 6, or indie gems including Disco Elysium, there’s almost certainly something for you in the Epic Games summer sale. You’ll even earn and extra 10 percent back in rewards when you buy something during the sale.

It lasts until Aug.3, 2023, so if you see something you like, now’s the time to get it if you can.

If you’re after console deals, check out our PlayStation summer sale roundup as well.

Death Stranding: Director's Cut - $19.99

The definitive edition of Hideo Kojima’s open-world game is down to $19.99. The director’s cut includes a range of quality-of-life improvements, including a buddy bot and cargo catapult, a weapons range for practice, and quite a bit more. If you own the base game already, you can get the upgraded version for $4.99.

Death Stranding 2 is in the works as well, though it has no release date yet.

Dead Island 2 - $44.99

Dead Island 2 only launched a few months earlier in 2023, but it’s already discounted to $44.99. It’s a survival horror game, but of the deeply unserious kind. Dead Island 2 is the perfect “brain off” game, excellent if you just want to smash some zombies in increasingly ridiculous ways without thinking much about it.

Red Dead Redemption 2 - $19.79

Red Dead Redemption 2 is, once again, on sale for $19.79, more than 50 percent off its usual price. If you’re in the line for an open-world adventure with one of the strongest casts of characters around in a unique setting with some poignant commentary as well, then this is the game for you.

Alan Wake Remastered - $11.99

Remedy’s hit psychological thriller Alan Wake Remastered is going for $11.99. It follows the eponymous author as he tries to save his wife, but the lines between reality and fiction blur a bit too often for Alan’s comfort. You don’t have to play this ahead of Alan Wake 2‘s launch in October 2023, but it certainly wouldn’t hurt to.

Forspoken - $34.99

Forspoken had a rough start, with critics finding its writing and rushed story difficult to appreciate, but these issues overshadow some thoughtful worldbuilding and combat. If you want to see for yourself how Frey’s journey across the land of Athia unfolds, you can grab it for $34.99.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero - $31.99

Trails from Zero is an RPG like few others. It tells the tale of a small city-state caught between two superpower neighbors and the backhanded scheming and political conniving of its leading factions who care nothing for the welfare of their people. The city gradually feels like home as your underdog heroes try their best to help its people, and there’s plenty of over-the-top anime magic and robots thrown in for good measure. It’s down to $31.99 during the sale.

Disco Elysium: The Final Cut - $9.99

Disco Elysium combines tabletop RPG-style traits and customization with deep storytelling, and adventure game mechanics. You play as a disgraced detective trying to solve a murder in a strange, run-down town full of cynicism and brutality. Whether you shine a light of hope or let the citizens drown in their despair depends on the choices you make.

You can grab this one for $9.99.

Tales of Iron - $7.49

“A Redwall-style Soulslike with The Witcher‘s Doug Cockle as narrator” sounds like a list of fan requests, but it’s what you’ll find in Tales of Iron. This dark fantasy indie game follows a rodent prince on a quest to save his kingdom from the oppressive rule of an evil frog clan, with a suite of powerful weapons and combos at his disposal. You can get the base game for $7.49.

Far Cry 6 - $14.99

Far Cry 6 takes the FPS game series to the tropical Caribbean in a place that’s not Cuba but definitely is Cuba. Your mission is liberating the people of Yara from a ruthless dictator and his corrupt political supporters. It’s basically just more Far Cry, but why tamper with a winning formula – especially when it’s down to $14.99.

Mass Effect: Legendary Edition - $14.99

Mass Effect Legendary Edition is down to $14.99 while the sale lasts. Legendary Edition bundles the remastered Mass Effect trilogy – the entirety of Commander Shepard’s saga – in one package. Despite being over a decade old, they still hold up and earned a place on our best Western RPG list for a reason.

Vampire The Masquerade: Swansong - $29.99

It might not be Bloodlines 2, but Vampire Swansong offers a different take on the World of Darkness with its narrative adventure and vampiric sleuthing. It’s a bit janky in places, like most Vampire games, but Swansong‘s deep narrative and exploration of The Masquerade’s lore make it easy to overlook. You can grab it for $29.99.

Total War: Warhammer 3 - $20.39

If you like a touch of magic and snot goblins with your grand strategy, then Warhammer 3 is definitely for you. It’s the best of Warhammer in one massive package, with multiple modes, an exciting selection of heroes and races, and some of the series’ best battles, and you can get it for $20.39.

Risk of Rain 2 - $12.49

Risk of Rain 2 challenges you to stay alive as long as you can and see just how powerful you become before one of its deadly, gigantic monsters ends your dream in a gorgeous handcrafted environment. There’s nearly endless variety, so each run feels fresh. You’ll pick from nearly a dozen characters and customize them with over 100 items, and you can join friends in multiplayer if you need a helping hand.

You can get this one for $12.49.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey - $11.99

Take a trip back in time to the Peloponnesian War and delve into the mysteries of the Adriatic in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. It’s admittedly more of an RPG than a stealth game, but Odyssey is home to some of the series’ most striking locations and interesting characters. You can get the base game for $11.99.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor - $52.49

Cal Kestis is back, this time on a daring quest to bring the empire down and find a safe home for fellow survivors. His journey takes him to a handful of intricately designed planets across the galaxy’s outer rim, including the massive rural outpost Kohbo, which is positively riddled with hidden secrets. Survivor encourages you to revisit old planets and mysterious ruins to  unlock new areas once you gain more powers, though the emphasis is firmly on storytelling and combat.

Cal Kestis is on a daring quest to bring the empire down and, in his spare time, find a safe home for others who resist oppressive imperial rule. Survivor is a more reflective journey, one that takes him to a handful of intricately designed planets across the galaxy’s outer rim. Taking center stage is the massive rural outpost Kohbo, which is riddled with hidden secrets and reasons to keep exploring. Grab it for $52.49.

Celeste - $4.99

If you missed out on Celeste, one of the best platformers – and the most sensitive, thoughtful games in general – in the past decade, now’s the time to do it. The challenging mountain climbing journey of self-discovery is down to $4.99.

Skyrim Special Edition - $9.99

Starfield might be just around the corner, but if you somehow missed out on Skyrim in its man forms over the past 12 years, you can get the special edition for $9.99. The Anniversary Edition upgrade, which includes popular mods and a survival mode, is also down to $9.99, so that’s the expanded special edition and anniversary upgrade for less than $20.
