LUCKNOW: The daily Covid-19 vaccination rate remained below 20,000 for the second consecutive day on Thursday, but more people are now coming forward for the first shot, which they couldn’t take earlier due to various reasons.
Of the total 17,651 people who took the jab on Thursday, 1,3391 (76%) were first dose beneficiaries while 4,260 (24%) took the second shot.
The respective figures for the first and second dose beneficiaries in 18-44 year category were 9,344 and1,273, while in the 45-59 years group the figures were 2,925 and1,941, respectively. In the age group of 60 years and above, 949 people took the first dose while 800 took the second shot.
Similar ratio in all these groups were witnessed on Wednesday.
Vaccination of people aged 45 years or above had started in March, as a result, people coming for the second dose after 12 weeks’ gap started increasing in May. By the first week of July, those seeking second dose overtook the number of first dose beneficiaries.
Officials said for the last two days, second dose recipients in 45-plus category were more than the first.
Four more in Covid-19 grip
Four more persons contracted Covid-19 in the city on Thursday while an equal number of patients recovered in the last 24 hours. The number of patients with active infection status now stand at 52.
