£160k-a-year cannabis farm busted at house in Huyton

A man was arrested after police discovered a cannabis farm in Huyton .

Officers found the drugs production set up in a home on Lincombe Road at 9pm on Saturday.

Forty plants were being grown across two bedrooms of the house, where the electricity was being abstracted to help grow the drugs.

The farm could have been worth around £160,000-a-year.

A 42-year-old man from Huyton was arrested on suspicion of production of cannabis, abstraction of electricity and theft of a bicycle. He has been released under investigation.

Community Policing Sergeant Steven Owen said: "Criminal groups involved in growing cannabis are often involved in other serious organised crime and will use any property they can, often in the heart of our communities, to grow cannabis farms of various sizes.

"Our communities can help us stop these groups, who are only interested in making money, from turning houses and businesses into potential death traps. Water and electricty do not mix, and cannabis farms have in the past caught fire and caused significant damage.

“Nobody wants to live or work next door to these places and we would ask that if you believe someone is using a property for this purpose, please tell us so we can take positive action and find those responsible for setting them up."
