16-year-old with no underlying health issues dies with coronavirus in England

A 16-year-old with no known underlying health conditions is among the latest reported deaths of people who have tested positive for coronavirus in England.

It comes a day after figures showed a 13-year-old without known underlying conditions had died.

On Saturday, NHS England said another 307 people who tested positive for coronavirus had died in hospital in England, bringing the total number of confirmed deaths reported in hospitals to 81,046.

Patients were aged between 16 and 100 and all except four – aged between 16 and 68 – had known underlying health conditions.

The deaths were between January 12 and February 19.

Figures released on Friday by NHS England showed a 13-year-old with no known underlying health conditions had died.

In that batch of figures, dates of death ranged from April 18 last year to February 18 this year.

Other young victims of the pandemic in the UK include Ismail Mohamed Abdulwahab, who died in March last year aged 13, with no known underlying conditions.

A 13-day-old baby, thought to have no underlying health conditions, was reported to have died with Covid-19 by NHS England in June.
