16-year-old arrested after alleged burglaries in Antrim

Police have issued an appeal for witnesses following a number of reported incidents in Antrim.

They say during the early hours of Sunday morning, they received reports of two burglaries in the Millhouse area.

A maroon Fiat 500 car was allegedly stolen from the Millhouse area before being recovered by PSNI officers.

Detectives have arrested a 16-year-old male on suspicion of offences including burglary with intent to steal. The teenager remains in custody this afternoon.

Detective Sergeant McDowell said: "The arrests follow reports of two burglaries in the Millhouse area of Antrim area in the early hours of this morning.

"A vehicle - a maroon Fiat 500- was reported stolen from the Millhouse area at around 5.45 am . The vehicle was recovered quickly by Police.

"I want to appeal to anyone who saw any suspicious activity, or suspicious persons in this area between 5am and 6.15am this morning to get in touch with us. I would urge anyone who may have captured dash cam to contact us on 101, quoting reference number 312 of 19/04/20 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
