December was another busy month in the courts. Crimes ranged from a woman who carried out a terrifying knife-point robbery on a shop to a thug who repeatedly punched his ex-girlfriend and broke her nose.
One offender was described by his victim as becoming 'almost demonic as his drinking became more extensive' in her statement read out in court. She had been strangled and had a cigarette stubbed out on her head.

Jabbram Hussain
Pizza delivery driver Jabbram Hussain attacked and robbed his boss on the A46 after he earlier told him he was unfit for work.
Hussain, 40, of Noel Street, Nottingham, pleaded guilty to robbery and was jailed for three years at Nottingham Crown Court. Read the full story here
Nicole Johnson
Nicole Johnson, 21, of Trowell Road, Wollaton, brandished a huge knife during a raid at Leon's Pricewise, Radford Road, between Radford and Forest Fields.
After pleading guilty, she received four years and eight months in prison for robbery, and one year and one month concurrently for possessing the knife. Read the full story here

Darren Taylor
Drug dealer Darren Taylor, 39, was jailed for more than two years after police found drugs and weapons in a car on North Road in Retford. A search of his home turned up a large amount of cash and a further stash of drugs.
He was sentenced to two years and six months for possession with intent to supply a Class A drug and possession of offensive weapons. Read the full story here
Waleed Ahmed Chaudhry
Waleed Ahmed Chaudhry, 25, of Mardling Avenue, Bestwood, drove through red lights and over the speed limit in a Nottingham area.
He pleaded guilty to counts of dangerous driving, failing to stop, driving while disqualified and driving without insurance. And he was jailed for 12 months and banned from driving for three years. Read the full story here
Daniel Jeyes
Daniel Jeyes, 37, of Sutton-in-Ashfield, repeatedly punched his ex-girlfriend and broke her nose during a violent attack at their home.
Jeyes appeared at Nottingham Crown Court on December 7, where he was convicted of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and sentenced to two years and eight months in prison. Read the full story here
Nathan Rickett
Nathan Rickett broke into an address in Longmead Drive, in Bestwood, while the victim was in hospital.
He stole both the television and a set of keys from the address, Nottinghamshire Police reported. The 35-year-old, of Nottingham, went on to plead guilty to a charge of burglary and was jailed for three years when he appeared at Nottingham Crown Court on December 1. Read the full story here
John Chittock
A Nottinghamshire woman was strangled and had a cigarette stubbed out on her head by a 'demonic' attacker. John Chittock, 38, of Vaughan Avenue, Doncaster, subjected the woman to a 'catalogue of violence', assaulting her multiple times between March and June 2022.
He pleaded guilty to two counts of intentional strangulation, eight counts of assault by beating, five counts of criminal damage and a further count of sending malicious communications, and was sentenced to three years in prison and was also handed an indefinite restraining order preventing him from seeing or contacting the woman. Mudasser Ahmed
Burglar Mudasser Ahmed, 43, left his prison release documents and a false tooth when he raided a hall of residence in Russell Street, Nottingham city centre.
Ahmed, of no fixed address, was jailed for three years and nine months for one count of burglary when he appeared at Nottingham Crown Court for sentencing on December 7. Read the full story here
Anthony Riley
Disqualified driver Anthony Riley, 32, was travelling 89mph in a 30mph zone in an attempt to evade the police when he collided with a tree on Hawton Road, Newark.
Riley survived the crash but 35-year-old Mark Hunter, of Mapperley, was pronounced dead at the scene. Riley was arrested and charged with causing death by dangerous driving, driving whilst disqualified, failing to provide a specimen for analysis and aggravated-vehicle taking.
He pleaded guilty to all offences and received a 10-year jail sentence for causing death by dangerous driving. No other penalty was handed down in relation to the three other offences. Read the full story here
Kyle Newell
A man 'slashed' three innocent men with a sharply pointed weapon in an unprovoked attack, a court heard. The three men were enjoying a night out when Kyle Newell, aged 34, confronted them in St James' Street, in Nottingham city centre.
Newell, of Claremont Road, Carrington, admitted to three counts of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and possessing a bladed article in a public place. Appearing at Nottingham Crown Court, he was jailed for a total of 15 years. Read the full story here
Kai Green
Kai Green was locked up after a 'ferocious' knife attack on a courageous Nottinghamshire Police officer who thought he was 'going to die'. Violent Green, 18, of Larkfield Road, Nuthall, launched the persistent attack with a 'highly dangerous' flick knife in North Sherwood Street, between Forest Road East and Mansfield Road in Nottingham city centre.
He admitted he caused grievous bodily harm with intent and possessing a bladed article in a public place. Read the full story here
Lucky Pemberton
Violent drug dealer Lucky Pemberton exploited two highly vulnerable women. His custody image was released by Nottinghamshire Police after Pemberton, of no fixed address, was jailed for six years and five months for possessing drugs with intent to supply at Nottingham Crown Court on December 19.
Concurrent sentences were handed down to Pemberton for two offences of assault, causing bodily harm, after he left one of the victims he exploited with a graze to her head, and the second with swelling and bruising to her thigh after using a machete to injure her. Read the full story here

Gary Reid
Witnesses helped to rescue a terrified woman repeatedly shouting for help from a car after a violent attack at the hands of her then partner. Gary Reid, 56, of Milton Street, Nottingham city centre, went on to plead guilty to assault, causing bodily harm, and was jailed for 25 months. Read the full story here
Jason Gordon
Dramatic police dash camera footage was released of the moment drink driver Jason Gordon led officers on a high-speed chase.
The clip showed Gordon in a Seat car one evening speeding along streets and driving on the wrong side of the road at one stage.
Recorder Sprawson jailed him for a total of 12 months for dangerous driving and drink driving, and added three months consecutively for further offences of disqualified driving and drink-driving on a stolen moped in August - when on bail and subject to an interim driving ban from the January 9 offences.
Concurrent sentences, which were lower, were imposed for separate offences, as well a licence endorsement for having no insurance. A driving ban of of three-and-half years was imposed . Read the full story here
William Robinson
William Robinson targeted a van with two men inside - but one of them bravely put up a fight. Robinson, 45, of Berridge Road, Forest Fields, was found guilty of attempted robbery, in Littleover Avenue, Oak Tree, Mansfield, and possessing offensive weapons - a crowbar and knife.
Robinson was jailed for six years and four months, with an extended licence of three years on his release, for attempted robbery. Sentences of 15 months in prison were handed down concurrently on the possessing offensive weapons charges. Read the full story here
Declan Gilluley
Police released the custody image of arsonist Declan Gilluley who set fire to his ex-girlfriend's family home.
Gilluley, 26, of Cox's Lane, Mansfield Woodhouse, was jailed after pleading guilty to arson at a Nottingham Crown Court hearing. Read the full story here
