£150m Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang warning as Arsenal fans send transfer message to Raul Sanllehi

The absence of live football continues.

Following last Friday's Premier League meeting, it won't be returning to our screens for a while yet as the 2019/20 season has been postponed indefinitely because of the coronavirus outbreak.

That means football may not return until July at the earliest as the league have vowed not to restart the competition until it's safe to do so.

The latest on possible Arsene Wenger statue and stand

Plenty of questions remain unanswered about the remainder of the season and how it finishes especially for Arsenal who were in the race for a Champions League place as well as the FA Cup prior to the break.

As ever, football.london will keep you across all the latest developments regarding the Gunners whether it be player news or anything in the world of transfers.

With that said, here's all the news from around the Emirates Stadium over the past 24 hours.

Arsenal fans send transfer message to Raul Sanllehi

Arsenal supporters took to social media at the weekend after reports of a surprise summer transfer for Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard.

According to The Athletic, because the Gunners will likely need a replacement for loanee Dani Ceballos at the end of the season, head of football Raul Sanllehi is rated as among the most likely in the Premier League to give Lingard's agent Mino Raiola a call.

The report also states that Wolves, Watford and Sheffield United are possible destinations for the England international, meanwhile, Roma and Atletico Madrid are also said to be interested.

As expected, reports of Lingard making the move to north London did garner a strong reaction from supporters.

Many were of the same opinion that the attacking midfielder should not be a target and have sent a message to Sanllehi warning him to not make a phone call to Raiola.

The £150m Aubameyang warning

Ex-Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna has urged the club's board to get Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's contract sorted as soon as possible, warning it could cost them £150m to replace him.

“He can’t go now because Arsenal are on the way to building something strong. They can’t afford to lose him. If they have to pay him, then just pay him because if they want someone else of his quality they cost £150m," Sagna told Goal.

“So don’t spend this £150m, just spend £50m and give it to him. It’s the same as [Robin] van Persie and I think you have to learn from that situation. Auba deserves it. I’m not saying that because of his name or because he has scored a few goals. He’s the best striker in the league.

“Auba is a machine, he has scored many goals for the team. If you want to build something, it has to be around him. Giving him the armband gave him some confidence. He is the captain, which means they want him to lead.

“Today, the stadium is the club’s stadium. It’s always full, they are making money. Of course, there are other ways of spending money, but I would rather pay him than trying to find a solution with him than losing him and then wasting time trying with someone else, and finding someone else now is very, very difficult.

"It’s like playing chess. You have to be smart. He deserves it, just give it to him.”

Premier League players urged to join global revolt

Arsenal players and the rest of the Premier League have been urged to join a global revolt if the season resumes.

This is the advice of former Manchester City football fitness coach Raymond Verheijen.

"The season must be cancelled to protect the players. I have spoken to players about the coronavirus situation and they are worried about being told to play before the crisis is over," he told the Mirror. "They are scared about becoming infected by a team-mate or an opponent.

"So that’s the first thing the football authorities need to address. And the second issue that needs to be raised is the possibility of players suffering career-threatening injuries.

"Everyone understands that there is huge financial pressure on the game and we all want to see football resumed as quickly as possible – but only when the crisis is over and the reality is that it won’t be possible to finish the current season by the end of the summer.

"Most players don’t have the influence to say, ‘I am not playing until I know it’s safe’. Only the players’ unions and the best footballers in the world have that kind of power."

UEFA statement

UEFA have played down quotes attributed to president Aleksander Ceferin regarding the end of the football season.

Ceferin appeared to suggest that European competition - Champions League as well as the Europa League - would have to be completed in early August.

"On August 3 everything must be finished, UCL and Europa League. The situation is extraordinary. We can play on the same dates as the local championships, at the same time, we must be flexible. If the crisis stops, we will start sooner," he is quoted as having told ZDF.

However, UEFA have now come out with a statement refuting that a date was set by their president and that July and August matches could be an option.

“It has been reported that UEFA President, Aleksander Ceferin told ZDF in Germany that the UEFA Champions League must finish by 3 August. This is not true. The President was very clear not to set exact dates for the end of the season.

"UEFA is currently analysing all options to complete domestic and European seasons with the European Club Association and the European Leagues in the working group set up on 17 March.

"The primary priority of all the members of the working group is to preserve public health.

"Following on from that, it is to find calendar solutions to complete all competitions. Options are currently being studied to play matches in July and in August if needed, depending on restart dates and the permission of national authorities."
